History |
| The Friends of the Frisco Public Library was formed in 1989 with Leslie Howell as president. For a period of time, books were collected and stored in the caboose on the tracks at the edge of town. When Friends had enough books and funding for shelving, Vivian McCallum loaned her building on Main Street to house the Frisco Public Library.
In the beginning, volunteers staffed the library by shelving items, helping patrons check items in and out, and creating and running children’s Summer Reading Programs. The city acquired the Frisco Municipal Complex where the Frisco Public Library was housed from 1992 to 2006, and at that time a part-time Librarian from the Collin County Community College came to work. With an allocation of funds in the city budget, the library began cataloguing items and putting in new shelving.
Through the years, many community members have been involved with the Friends of the Library, and the executive board has included names such as Judy Clark, Betty Davis, Mary Kaiser, Vivian McCallum, Judy McCoy, Sally Phelps, Penny Rathbun, and Jennifer Wittstruck. |

Loan Policy |
Videos and music CDs circulate for one week and can be renewed once. Cardholders may borrow four CDs and four videos (DVD or VHS) per card.
All other items circulate for two weeks and may be renewed twice (unless the item is on reserve for another cardholder). There is currently no limit to the number of books that each cardholder may borrow.
Currently the library does not assess fines for overdue items, but overdue items must be returned before new materials can be checked out.
All materials in the library can be checked out at our Express Check stations located on each floor. A printed receipt will list the due date of each item. You must present your library card when checking out items. |
