| Friends of the Library Used-Book Nook Needs Your Donations |
|
We need your gently read fiction and non-fiction hardcover and paperback books, CD's, DVD's and current dated magazines. They can be donated to the Friends by bringing them to the Library. You will receive a donation receipt for your tax purposes.
The books are sorted, and placed on the Used-Book Nook shelves in the Library. Proceeds from your book donations to the Friends are then used fund items such as, training, programing and other library needs, that are not provided for by the Frisco City Budget.
The Friends of the Frisco Library meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:45pm in the McCallum Room at City Hall. You are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact the Friends at friends@friscolibrary.com.

2009 Frisco Library Collector Ornament on Sale!

The 2009 Friends of the Frisco Public Library Collector Ornament is available at the library and at the Frisco Heritage Museum! This year's ornament is a colorful 3D rendering of Frisco's farming heritage. The price for the 2009 ornament is $16 and can be purchased at the Borrow and Return desk just inside the entrance to the library. The ornament is also available in the Frisco Heritage Museum gift store. They make great gifts or collect them for your own keepsakes.
And don't forget a few of the 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005 ornament s are available and can still be purchased. The 2008 ornament is a rendering of Frisco's signature gazebo and clock tower on Main Street, and costs $17. The 2007 ornament depicts Frisco's first high school, for $18; the 2006 ornament is the Frisco depicts the home of the Library, the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center for $19. The 2005 ornament depicts the Frisco Caboose and cost $20. They make a wonderful gift or addition to your collection!

New York Times bestselling mystery and romance author Sandra Brown was the guest speaker at Meet and Mingle with Sandra Brown, an event hosted by The Friends in November 2009. The presentation by Ms. Brown was preceded with a reception for her and followed by book sales and signing. The event was a huge success, drawing Sandra Brown fans from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and beyond.

Bettina Restrepo was the speaker for a fun and educational Children's Author event held in October 2009. Bettina spoke in the City Council Chambers about her book, Moose & Magpie, with book sales and signings before and after her presentation. It's so easy to become a member of the Friends of the Library. Adult memberships start at only $10 per year, and there are junior memberships for kids and teens. Your membership goes directly to supporting the Library's collections and projects. And your membership provides the opportunity to partcipate in the many Friends' activities as a volunteer.
Just click on this link and print the Friends application. Choose your membership level, and send in your check and the form, and you will receive your membership card in the mail.

The Friends of the Frisco Public Library is a non-profit organization that helps enrich our community by inviting its members to volunteer for programs that promote public relations and fundraising opportunities on behalf of our library. Fundraising events include the sales of a unique historic holiday ornament, the annual Frisco Spelling Bee, and periodic book sales. The Friends of the Library also collects donated Campbell's soup labels as part of the Campbell's Labels for Education program. |
