Installing the Overdrive App:

  1. Download the app from the App Store.
  2. Launch the app and create an Overdrive account.
  3. Add a library and select Frisco Public Library to begin browsing.
  4. Go to Checkouts to access titles you have checked out.

Installing the Hoopla App:

    Note: Compatible with Android OS 4.1 - Jelly Bean - and later versions.

  1. Download the app from the App Store.
  2. Launch the Hoopla App and sign up for an account.
  3. Use your library card number and password to complete the sign up.

Installing Adobe Digital Editions:

Use Adobe Digital Editions to read eBooks downloaded from Overdrive.

  1. Download the Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) software.
  2. Open the software and authorize ADE with an Adobe ID.
  3. Download the eBook title and select to open with ADE.

NOTE: Windows 8 and 10 users download and use the Overdrive App.

  1. Search our catalog of titles.
  2. Use the menu on the left to limit your search to just eBooks in the Kindle format.
  3. Click the Download button to checkout the book. You will need your library card number and password.
  4. After checking out, you will be taken to Amazon.com to log into the Amazon account associated with your Kindle to complete the checkout.
  5. Turn on your Kindle, connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or 4G, and Amazon will deliver your title.

USB Transfer of Titles:  Older generation Kindles require a USB transfer from a computer to your Kindle.

  1. After checking out the title, download the file to your computer.
  2. Plug your Kindle into your computer with the USB cord.
  3. On your computer, locate and open the Kindle folder/drive. Typically this is in the My Computer area of a PC or on the desktop for a Mac.
  4. On your computer, open the Kindle drive and then open the Documents, Internal Documents, or Books folder. (This is where all your Kindle eBooks are stored on your Kindle device).
  5. Next, drag and drop the downloaded book into this folder used for all your eBooks.
  6. Disconnect your Kindle and read.

Returning Titles Early: How to return eBooks downloaded to your Kindle.

  1. Log into your Amazon account at: Amazon
  2. In the sign in menu, select Manage Content and Devices.
  3. Click the actions button next to the title you want to return.
  4. Select the return option.
  5. On your Kindle you can delete the title. Note: Deleting a title off your Kindle does not return the eBook.

  4. EPUB eBooks and MP3 eAudiobooks will open inside this app.

  • Titles in EPUB and MP3 formats will download into and open in the app.
  • Kindle format eBook titles will redirect you to Amazon to complete the checkout and deliver the title to your Kindle.
