Ancestry.com is available only at library computers.
Book Index With Reviews
Book Index with Reviews (BIR) is a comprehensive database that provides information on over 3.8 million book titles in a wide range of formats, including large print, books on tape, etc. Fiction and non-fiction titles for juvenile and adult audiences are included in the database, in all genres. The product contains over 800,000 full-text searchable reviews from the sources that you trust: Library Journal, School Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, CHOICE, and others.
Book News
The Frisco Public Library is proud to introduce BookNews, a new online service for readers. This new reader's advisory service gives readers access to free electronic newsletters about a wide variety of books via the library's web site or delivered directly to their e-mail address. Readers can access Book News from the library's web site or elect to receive the monthly newsletters via e-mail on the 15th of each month. Readers can select electronic newsletters based on genres, including new fiction, new non-fiction, mystery, classics, business books, home and garden books, and science fiction books. The newsletters are also categorized by books that have received awards, such as the Pulitzer Prize for History and a newsletter about works for children that have received the Caldecott Medal for illustration. Other categories include age (such as books for children and teens), large-print books, audio books and other interests. The newsletters include reviews, descriptions and author commentaries. Links within the newsletters take subscribers directly to the Frisco Public Library catalog, so they can easily see if a title is available at the local library.
DearReader Online Book Club
So many books, so little time. For all those busy people, the Frisco Public Library has a new service: DearReader Online Book Club delivers books electronically. Each day, Monday through Friday, the library emails subscribers a portion of a book that takes about five minutes to read. They're able to read two or three chapters from a book during the week. Each week the library features new books.
History Database Center
History Database Center provides access to three databases: American History Online, World History, and Ancient History & Culture. American History Online is a comprehensive and authoritative reference to the most important individuals, events, and topics in United States history. World History Online covers the important civilizations and cultures of world history from prehistoric times through the modern era. Ancient History & Culture gives a balanced, global view of the ancient world as it explores six ancient centers of civilization - Africa, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Mesoamerica, and Mesopotamia.
NetLibrary
Ebooks and downloadable audio books are available for browsing, searching, and virtual checkout. NetLibrary eBooks are digital full-text versions of books such as reference works, scholarly monographs, literature and fiction, and 3,400 publicly-accessible titles.
NoveList
NoveList is a fiction database that provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 135,000 fiction titles. It also includes other content of interest to fiction readers, such as Author Read-alikes, What We're Reading, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, and Annotated Book Lists. For school media specialists and teachers there are Picture Book Extenders and articles on Teaching with Fiction.
Reference USA - Bigger & Better!
Valuable new content added to Reference USA! Two new Reference USA modulesare now available to Frisco Public Library users. The Health Care database contains phone-verified listings detailed information on 675,000 doctors and 180,000 dentists.  The New Businesses module is updated with more than 50,000 new businesses added each week. Use to research hot areas of economic development. These new businesses need a wide variety of goods and services. Contains detailed information on over 12 million U.S. businesses and over 120 million U.S. households. Search by location, SIC code, business size, and more.
Science Online
Science Online is a complete reference database containing thousands of entries covering animal anatomy, anthropology and archaeology, astronomy and space technology, atomic physics, biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, computer science, earth science, environmental science, general science, genetics, health and medicine, human natomy and physiology, marine science, physics, and weather and climate. These Diagrams, Definitions, Biographies, Essays, and Experiments are cross-referenced through hyperlinks and are searchable by keyword, topic, and year. In addition, the site includes a Timeline dating from the big bang to the present, Web Links to other science Web sites, and Further Information.

The World Atlas

World Book Online Reference Center
World Book Online contains all of the articles from the print version of World Book Encyclopedia plus several unique features including photos, sounds, illustrations, maps, and 360-degree views, an up-to-date full-color atlas of the world, approximately 13,000 historical articles from past World Book Year Book volumes, summaries of important current events, as well as links to relevant World Book articles and authoritative, editor-selected Web sites, and a dictionary that contains more than 248,000 definitions.
