Kid-Friendly Databases

Do you have a library card?  If so, try starting with some of these great databases and reference services, where you can find live online help, tons of reference sources like dictionaries, encyclopedias, & atlases, and lots of magazine articles selected just for you!  In most cases, you'll need your library card number and you pin number to use these.  If you forget your pin, or a special username and password are required, just ask the library staff for help!

A live reference service via the Internet.  Via a chat screen, library staff is available to assist you in using online resources, to find materials in the catalog, or to be your tour guide if you get lost on the information superhighway.

 
Ebsco Kids Search

Ebsco resources selected specifically for primary and middle school students.  Find full-text articles from hundreds of popular resources.  Also includes a dictionary, encyclopedia, and image collection, as well as a Teacher Resources section for educators.  Available through Texshare (Texshare Username & Password required if accessing from home.)

A kid-friendly interface to Ebsco resources for elementary school aged children.  Look up words in the dictionary, browse the encyclopedias, search the image collection, and find thousands of full-text articles!  Available through Texshare (Texshare Username & Password required if accessing from home.)
